If your as old as me, mid 50s, you remember before computers that we did all this with cardboard, now we can use those boardgames as templates for computer maps, the link below takes you to a boardgame site, with a map image of Ukraine at a high level of represenation, this would give you a good huge map of a specific region that saw extensive combat and would be a good uber map that scenarios can be made from.

If you know the name of a battle or campaign, or even remember a game you played, chances are that a png of the map is here, or on the net somewhere, at the very least, you will get the proportions and road rail and citys from it, for instance you want a Bttn level scn or campaign in Normandy, you goto Geek find The Longest day boardgame, which is a bttn level unit and map, https://boardgamegeek.com/image/44313/longest-day and much of the heavy lift is done for you, of course a lot of work and thought needs to be put in to get each hex suitable for Pzcorps.

If your after a bigger scale, https://boardgamegeek.com/images/boardg ... ley/page/4 might suit your needs

In short there is a map to make your designing easier somewhere here :D
