Suggested Tweaks

Still loving this game even though I'm currently stuck on the New Caledonia mission. Suggested tweaks:
1) Submarines don't seem worthwhile - they have the same command cost as destroyers and destroyers are far more useful in pretty much every situation. Reducing subs to two points instead of three and/or giving them a bit better hitting-power at close range (remember, subs accounted for the loss of more aircraft carrier and battleships during the war than any other cause) might make them more attractive. Maybe something also worth considering is special deployment hexes for submarines so they can be deployed to locations at the start of the scenario in which other units cannot be placed.
2) Am I the only person who doesn't bother with ground recon units? Giving them better functionalities (bigger spotting range?) might make them more worthwhile.
3) Engineers are a bit on the cheap side considering how useful they are. Maybe bump their cost a bit?
4) A mountain artillery unit might be a good idea, as would a parachute-artillery unit. As-is paras are hard enough to support that you don't really want to expose them.
5) The AI needs to know how to tackle mine-fields. It doesn't clear them at the moment even if they block the AI's way.
Bigger ideas:
1) Would love to fight a defensive campaign as Japan: fighting the Allies on the beaches as they land en masse sounds like great fun.
2) The war in China needs to be included, as does the war in Burma.
3) This game engine would be great for, for example, a Cold War game centred around the fighting in Korea/Vietnam, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and a hypothetical NATO-Warsaw Pact fight or invasion of Cuba.
