Commander on screen

Hey guys, good game that's fun to play. Couple of questions: 1) A land unit commander is on screen, I'm on the Coral Sea scenario and I can't attach him to a land unit (no command points) - how do I remove him from the screen (if possible)? 2) It seems to me too easy to cross rivers, especially for armor and heavy vehicles making bridges a lot less important.
Thanks for all the hard work that goes into developing these games!!

You should be able to click the portrait and then click the unit on the map you wish to attach him to.

Are you sure its not an air commander you are seeing?

It's probably a land Commander that was captured or wounded in previous scenario (unit killed).
In my case, I didn't find any way to get rid of it from the screen and had to live with it till the next scenario. Ater a while you get used to it and don't see it anymore...

If wounded, there should be a number at bottom right showing turns remaining for recovery.

It's in the bottom left in the commander's picture. Kinda looks like a watch.

If there's no numbers then the Commander is ready to be attached to your land unit as soon as you have one deployed in the next scenario if not in this one...
