I cannot see a way to win, tried to break the centre, tried to withdraw to the hills tried to go around the flanks but no joy any advice.

I have reached the conclusion that this battle is impossible to win.

You have three Royal Swiss to their two. The rule is, the one with the most Royal Swiss should win. ;)

Seriously though, your Kurassiers trump his Gendarmes. Just do not get flanked and they will win three out of four melees.

Shoot up his Early P&S, then melee your Royal Swiss against them.

You are out-numbered, so do not try to outflank.

Avoid melee with his Royal Swiss. Your Kurassiers can stop in front of them to impede their movement.

There is a place in his line that has mounted arquebusiers backed by foot arquebusiers. You can make a mess of them all with a cavalry charge.

When I first saw this battle I thought it hopeless, but reading the battle notes I put my faith in my Kurassiers and won this one on the first play-through.

Thanks for the help but every time I attack his Cavalry they withdraw and then I have no AP for the next turn and this happens quite a lot, at one point I thought there was something wrong with this particular battle until I read the manual.

Breaking the centre with my Kurassiers seems to be the way to go but it seems to be a roll of the dice whether the AI stands and fights or just withdraws leaving me stuck in the mud for the next turn.

And if the enemy do rout my Kurassiers have a habit of stopping with there backsides to the enemy.

I think I need a break from this battle. :)
