"No core" option?

First off, great game!

I know I'm in the minority but I really dislike the RPG-element in this game and Panzer Corps. I want to focus on the current scenario, not worry that my core isn't mobile enough to win that scenario 20 hours down the road or that later scenarios will become trivial because I had the resources to go full Tiger (units having deployment weight is a great addition btw).

Just give me the units that you think is appropriate for the scenario and some points so I can recruit a few units myself. That way it is easier to ensure a balanced and challenging, but winnable scenario, especially late in the campaign.

So, for upcoming DLCs and games I'd like an option to turn off core units. For this game I'd like an option to sell back core units in the deployment phase, to allow for more experimentation.

An odd request, but it would basically use the mechanic we have for the unlocked individual scenarios. These provide financial compensation for the missing core units.

So it wouldn't be too hard to add.

Not if you prefer Unity of Command over Panzer Corps, I think :).

I'm pretty sure Panzer Corps had the option to sell core units though. Why did you choose to remove that option for Order of Battle?

You can sell/disband units through the unit information panel. It will only return a part of the original purchase cost though, so you would end up with a weaker force unless it's used to get rid of redundant units.
