Size of maps?

I wonder how big the maps in the player vs AI campaigns are?

Let me explain: I enjoy large maps the most, those that give you some options on where to attack and which objectives to pursue (e.g. the Moscow maps from the old original Panzer General), and thereby really require you to plan your offensive well or pay for it at the end. I must admit that Panzer Corps was a let-down in this respect, with lots of small maps in which units could be thrown from one end to the other rapidly. It was all tactics (which enemy unit to attack in which order) and absolutely no strategy (where to deploy and advance).

So before I decide on whether to invest my hard-earned money, could anyone shed some light on the size of the maps (and the options to utilize this size - if all action is in one quadrant, it doesn't matter). Thanks!

Imo some of the maps are rather large, but unfortunately in some of them, you more or less HAVE to attack in a certain path if you are to achieve your secondary goals. Too much map, too little prestige to buy units for ^^

Some of the biggest land battles are around 80x70 hexes, with an average of probably around 40x40.

I believe movement speed - mostly affected by the difficult terrain - is generally slower than in PzC though. It can take a long time to cross even a fairly small jungle map.
