Guess I am done in the Leyte scenario already

I have some 600 resources, gain per turn is 60 and there are lot of auxiliary troops.

Still I have 36 command points left over to field on ground and just repairing my Corsairs without upgrading them costs me so much that I can barely field an airforce.

Here is my savegame. What to do? What was your situation?
I am afraid I have to try again after the patch, seems my losses were just too high and I have no resources. Maybe I should have repaired aux units less.
I know there is a cheat to gain resources, but I rather restart on lieutenant difficulty than doing that. On Captain my ground forces got their butt kicked. :(

Just in case you didn't know, at the end of a scenario, you are refunded half the resources you spent reinforcing auxiliary units.

Well if you are low on resources in Leyte means your force composition is not suitable or you have been taking heavy losses earlier. My suggestion as below which I found it very helpful.

Infantry
Infantry don't really need transport except for that blue truck that can cross water those are awesome
Entrench enemy always hit with engineer first as engineers are cheaper to replace. If engineer is out of range use heavy infantry to tank but do not attack and place engineer behind and swap place next turn.
Marine vs infantry always a tough choice as marine does better in some scenario but don't over purchase marine as infantry is far cheaper

Tanks and armor
Facing Japanese you don't really need anti tank as their tank is below specs so don't over purchase armor as they are expensive to replace
Light tanks perform great job in supply cutting so don't buy too many heavies
Plane
These are very expensive to replace so beware of the losses taken during earlier campaign.

Ships
Don't buy to many fancy BB as they are slow and sometimes I find CA and DD far better and far cheaper

Basically try not to engage enemy head on as that would really hurt your resources. Game design is awesome so you have to learn the basic engagement which will really help you. Flanking is great, cutting of army from supply is good if they are very heavily entrench
All unit have their use and purpose so you just need to learn them :), I am at the final campaign for both US and Japan on 3rd difficulty. And I decided to do vice admiral which is tough hehehe
Hope this help

Ah, thanks for the input it is well meant, but it's a bit too generic to be helpful.

Had a quick look at your savegame. It doesn't look that bad.

If you play very conservative (primary task: avoid casualties) for the first 5 or so turns you should be able to bring the majority of forces up to strength. Since the income per turn is unrelated to any achievements you can play a bit more passively/defensive to recover your losses. Ignore the secondary objective to capture flags in X turns as you'll take more losses than the bonus you'll get from it. Instead trade a few passive turns to build up your forces. A stronger force means you'll take less casualties which in turn means you'll have less repair costs thus more resources to spend on new units. Of course the only limiting factor is the turn limit, so don't sit back too long.

Land on a narrow front, Marines first (they don't lose efficiency from the disembark) and establish a defensive perimeter there. Resist the temptation to break out until the Japanese counter attacks are destroyed. The main problem you may face is artillery, as your core composition is lacking on heavy artillery. Those HMC you have are effective to support an attack, but lack range and hitting power in a defensive position.

Thank you!

Another problem is that my units are mostly in the ~1942 version. The upgrade is going to cost me a lot of credits.
I also have a "Lee" tank that surprisingly upgrades for free into a Sherman Jumbo. I also noticed I can theoretically buy for - / zero cost as many Jumbos as I want, I assume that is a bug.

OK, I will get some heavy and ranged artillery and try to avoid core unit casualties. I am afraid my airforce ate my credits, I had my Wildcats downed several times and now they are, well, kinda dated in 1944. My two Corsairs also took a beating but never went down so far. I never really could afford a BB, I think that's not a problem though, they do not seem to be really needed in many cases.

I will decide where to focus and disembark tonight. Let's see how it will end! :o

I played until turn 9 with your setup and doing perfectly fine. Upgraded all the infantry to '44 and repaired the fighters during deployment phase. Then landed everything at the southern - and later central - beach strip.

Bombers are harrasing the Japanese fleet, own ships are sailing North-East to reinforce the escort carriers there for the later naval battle. Betty bomber has been captured but I'm passing on the "capture 4 secondary VPs in 15 turns". Core forces are healthy and expanded with fresh 155mm motorised arty & all fighters brought up to full strength.

Hat tip, sir! I am about to invade in 53 minutes and will see if I can follow suit! :)

Seeing an American khaki colored "Hamaki" bomber was slightly disorienting! I knew the name though, renamed the english.txt units to the US codenames. Except for the Zero. Zeke is too strange.

I see you have the hotfix or patch applied, as you have these location nameplates. Niiice! Hope to see the patch and the plates soon on Steam!

You really want to buy some Satan's and Zippo's as these really chew up infantry and have assault values and thus replace engineers for removing entrenchment. They do Need to be backed up with AT for when you do meet enemy armour
