When I complete the deployment phase and hit the end turn button there is an immedate US victory. As a test I didnt do any deployments and again it was an immedaite US victory.

That's very odd.
Are you playing with the hotfix or the unmodified original?
Could you upload your campaign auto-save here so that we can reproduce?

I think I may have identifed the issue. Your comment to download the campaign save might be the key. I'm actually not yet at the Midway scenario in the campaign, just loaded it as a separate game. Do I need to have completed all the previous scenarios in order to play the midway battles?

I have the same problem. Am playing with the "unlock" file (scenario outside campaign) with 1.6.7 patch. On exiting deployment a US Victory event is triggered, every time.
