Very nice looking scenario and interesting battle. Thanks to designer. However, what do the ships do? I can't get them to move or to fire. Since the Dutch desperately need the extra firepower, please show me what I'm missing.

They don't do anything. They had an effect prior to the commencement of the battle by bombarding the Spanish army. However, as the tide came in, the two armies had to relocate onto the dunes and then were out of range of the ships.
