Behemoth - Campaign Thread

Welcome to Behemoth!

The latest version of the rules can be found here:

https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=40461478 ... 316F26!154

Even if you do not aspire to be Commander-in-Chief (CiC) of your faction, I highly recommend reading them (and installing the JSL Ancient font first). You will see that various numbers in the rules are highlighted in yellow. These are the initial values that will be used, but it is highly likely that some will change as play progresses - they are 'best guess' numbers for a starting position.

The factions are:

Parliamentarian: Aryaman, batesmotel, Blathergut, cavehobbit, Doyley50, nikdav, Ulysisgrunt, Waldorf, Warlord156, youngr

Royalist: awesum4, Deadtorius, Ironclad, keyth, mllange, Phillipe_at_bay, rbodleyscott, TheGrayMouser, turenne, Warlord

We should shortly have a War Room forum for each faction that will only be visible to members of that faction. Once they are up and running, the next step is for each faction to appoint a CiC and then we can get started.

Please PM me with any questions about the rules (or anything else that is necessary) and I will add it to the Q&A post below.

Please download the map for the layered effects to work, otherwise you won't see armies, supply lines etc.

Q&A

Q. When I look at the map on the link, I can't see towns and supply lines.
A. Download the map (you should be able to right-click and get a menu of options) and you should see the map in all its glory - the Excel online viewer does not support shapes, so the whole overlay cannot be seen.

The downloads have the same dates as the last ones - do I take it they are unchanged?

Yes. We are just waiting for the command forums then we should be good to go, with the caveat that I am in the middle of a house move so the next few days will be patchy for me at best! :)

Yes, sorry about that. I have asked again.

Private fora are now done - at least I think so, I can only see the Royalist one.

There is a sub-forum called 'Tournaments and Leagues' and you should be able to see it in there.

I would suggest that both factions start discussing who gets the CiC hat to start with!

Thank you Keyth.

I look forward to interesting conversations, devious plots, and masterful appraisals of the military situation, which shall lead to glorious victory over the rebels who currently sully our fair land

And a spaniel; you mustn't forget the spaniels.

Well, technically, the dog breed is known as the Cavalier King Charles. Rather appropriate, i would say.
I have actually owned one, a really great dog I must say.

So, am I an alternate?

Do not really Need to play, but would like to be able to visit the forums, view the map, etc.

If I cannot play, can I be a spy, and visit both forum threads?

I've had several over the years, one at present. They are great dogs and make wonderful loving pets, one of the family.

That's a pity I hadn't realised you were missing from the roll call for Behemoth. I suppose you could always be an Irish rebel if you are revolting enough. :)

Anyway what are you doing here? You should be off finishing that game with Cavehobbit, we didn't give him those extra points to let your dourness swan around on other sites.

My games with Cavehobbit always go to the end, the very last turn.

Giving him all those extra points to try and buy a victory I found rather distressing.(sniff!)

Not quite cricket when he is already one of the top five players of this game. He should not need that extra boost to whip a dour humourless coward like me.

Well,in two weeks I will be quite out of touch for a while, unless I want to drive 20 miles to get into cell phone range.

Hope to be back for the summer starting in mid-June.

In other news, TheGrayMouser has been divinely appointed as Royalist CiC. Much strategising is taking place as we edge closer to deployment...

Delighted that the Royalists have a CiC.

[And still waiting to be given access to the Royalist forum].

What a C-in-C we have. He's extremely handsome, has a poodle with colourful ribands in its collar, has an extremely floppy hat worn at the most jaunty of angles, tumbles wenches with large attributes with great gusto, and sits his horse most regally. What more could one want in a commander?

Phillipe,

the secret Royalist meeting place is accessed by going to the poorer part of town in a nondescript village on the outskirts of London, down a muddy side lane with no known name, to a plain house no different to its neighbours, knocking on an unmarked door using a code given only to those who have been before. Such is our amazing security for these rebels are both cunning and stealthy.

In modern terms; you must log into the forum, go to pike and shot tournaments and leagues, then Behemoth-royalist...topics...a special spot. Look forward to seeing you there

Hi Philippe,

I understand your frustration but this is something for which we are reliant on the Slitherine forum elves. I will try to PM you the substance of what has been discussed so far and you can then respond to TGM as you see fit.

Cheers,

Keyth
