Holy cow!

I am on Bataan and restarting, and that on "Captain" or so, difficulty setting 3 of 5.

Well played! Must definitely develop a new playstyle for this and stop thinking like a "Panzer General". I am very impressed, even the first scenario (Pearl Harbor) already had me thinking what to do and so on. The next scenario taught me what happens if you try to hold a bridge over a river for too long and when it is time to run.

In Bataan I ran away and restarted, see above.

Thumbs up for creating a proper wargame! And it's pretty and slick. Hope people won't hold a grudge against it when rating/recommending the game because they get their butt handed on a platter, Steam gamers are quite notorious for blaming rather the game than themselves.

The scenarios are mostly a bit easier now than in the initial beta builds. I lost many a battle back then :D
It is very difficult to balance this stuff right as playing styles and results earlier in a campaign may have a big impact.

for me until you understand the game fully, then alter the difficulty to the easiest and play from there, that's what i did, then ramp it up when your ready for more of a challenge, when you go daft, place it on the hardest setting as only then does it shows who is any good and who like me cries like a baby and has to cheat to finish it

It's getting better. Tried new strategies and new unit composition and learned a lot. Replaying the tutorial campaign once more. Wonder if the training core can be transferred into the US campaign.

No, you start a new campaign with a fresh core.

Ja, the AI and strategy will make you think on this game.

Hey Longsac,

Long time no see! I am glad to see that you picked this one up as well, it was a day one purchase for me. I am still not sure how I feel about it yet, I haven't had as much time to play it as I wanted with various work and end of semester school duties. So far though I have been impressed with the naval combat. I have had some frustrations though too, like is there any way to tell how much fuel a plane has left?

Hi monkspider,

Next to the unit strength icon on aircraft you'll see a smaller number. This is the number of turns remaining until that unit needs to land.

You might also notice red movement hexes when you select an aircraft. Those hexes will put you out of fuel range, so stay within the white hexes!

Hang in there, the tactics and style of play will slot into place!

More difficulty means less purchase points? How is it more difficult?

It only affects the amount of starting strength points the AI units have. So in a way, they have more troops. The AI will not get smarter or more stupid based on difficulty.
