Game not launching on Steam

Hulloh,

I should have bought through Slitherine, but being lazy and eager I bought through Steam :) -

I was punished because upon start, once I get past the pop-up standard Slith-Matrix menu, I get a black screen (does not say game not responding), and although the Steam tab comes up, nothing else happens for eternity and beyond. This issue has not yet been reported it seems.

I am running Windows 7-64 on a very very good machine.

The issue does not seem to be with Steam, as when I try to bypass Steam and run the .exe directly from the installation folder the same happens.

Hi Asterix,

A standard thing to check: make sure your video drivers are up to date (latest drivers from the graphics card manufacturers website).

Could you try clicking on the black screen? I wonder if it might be the intro video which is failing to play, and clicking might skip it?

To help us identify your specific problem, could you upload the file called output_log.txt which can found in the Order of Battle - Pacific_Data folder in the game's root directory?

Did you have a beta version installed at any time?

Try deleting or renaming "Settings" folder in "<documents>\My Games\Order of Battle - Pacific\" and run the game again.

I also had an issue with the intro video, it did play but was rather choppy (playing on 2560x1440 :)). If I would click any button then the game would crash. But if I didn't interrupt the intro then I would get to the menu and could just play.

I've now disable to play the intro movie (ty for that option!) so problem is solved :D.

Sorry I didn't realise you couldn't get past the intro. You'll have to wait until someone brighter than me comes along.

Did you try deleting the settings folder?

If that doesn't help, can you post your log file? More information here:

Yes, I deleted the folder settings, but nothing changes. My video card is limited,
my pc is outdated (pc with min spec: pentium IV, windows xp pro, 2gb ram, directx 10) and when intro starts the game crashed.

Pentium 4  You have an antique on your hands sir! :)

What graphics card does it have?

Can you post the log file? It might give us a clue.

Sorry! I'm not at home and I tried to remember the characteristics.
I asked my brother: my pc is a pentium D, 3 gb ram, video card amd radeon 7000 series 1 gb, directx 9.0c.
When I back home, I send you the log file.
However, i asked you if there is a way to disable the intro before i start the game

Would this help?

It goes there:

<my document>/My Games/order of Battle - pacific/Settings
