Played multiplayer for the first time and got my ass handed to me .... thing is ... dont know how to put this ... it didnt feel right ... I played with Orks and didnt even stand the slightest chance. My opponent just rushed me head on, killing 10-15 boys at a time with each attack (mainly Blood Angels Assault Squads) - 40 man orkmobs didnt manage to kill anything in return ... or 1-2 at the most ... Am I missing something or is this just what the game is, didnt seem like this in campaign mode ... I had hard times attacking big mobs of orks head on without softening them up a little in advance . Certainly couldnt just rush a mob of 40 Orks with my 15 man Assault Squad ( difficulty: normal) without losing 4-5 of them ...

Even where I had my boys supported by units big shootaz they didnt manage to win firefights against imperial guardsmen ... losing 10 boys at a time ( even within cover of buildings)

All of these games had no handicap modifier.

What am I missing?

If you have the wrong match up it is possible. You could be outranged or their armour too strong. You need to look at a specific case really with screenshot.

Welcome to the club, l accepted several open challenges.. it said against the Legion, but there were a fair few "spacemen" in most of them*. Given the Orks myopic vision, lack of movement (you'd think they'd be able to move through the thickest forests) and woeful initiative, I have every confidence of finishing in second place.

*Now that might be the fault of the designers, if so it should be rectified.

definitely not outranged its in adjacent hexes, and that still not account for his Assault Squads attacking 40 boy mobs head on on open ground (my boys even being in soft cover) without losing a single marine whilst killing 15 boys in one blow. That didnt happen in campaign mode at all.

I think there are handicap settings and if you picked a challenge where you are the handicapped, may Gork and Mork have mercy ... oh who am I kidding they are brutal and cunning. No mercy there.

Nope. no handicap. And yeah already saw that article, thanks for the hint anyways - actually acted like advised in it - didnt work. I managed to play Imperium on this map a couple of times now .... and I figured out .... it is really just one sided - crushing people into oblivion every single time. Balancing needs A LOT of work.

Which map is it then? I'd like to play that vs. you. I don't mind getting crushed

Edit: Yes, balancing certainly needs a lot or work. I'm just still unsure whom it favours currently. Probably depends on the map you play on.

Spiral Canyon, massivly favors Imperium. Cant see a way to lose on this map as Imperium.

Is that the "Convoy" one? If so, too right. In a straight against the Legion,* there might be hope. Some of the combat odds I was looking at, -22 were not funny (I was lucky to find +5, don't think I ever saw double figures).
