I was wondering that myself, as I always wanted the feedback from the vets (being ex SADF infnatry Lt ) I have respect and understanding and value the input... :)

Not Vietnam, but OEF 10-11. Fire support LT in the 101st Airborne.

I don't have this game yet, but I'd always thought it was high time for a series of Counterinsurgency games. I think they could even go deeper, as all the administration/operations/PR that goes into running a combat outpost can provide an extremely dynamic environment.

Thank you for your service, it's a shame that the Vietnam War (and anything post WW2 for that matter) gets as overlooked as it does in wargaming.

Too bad the game doesn't have tactical battles, as even those can be asymmetric. I remember when we'd go outside the wire, an ambush or IED would sometimes destroy a vehicle axle. Even if no one was hurt, it sharply degraded our abilities until repairs happened, giving the initiative to the enemy.

vietnam by its very nature is an extremely difficult subject to make the transition to gaming...traditionaly, gaming consists of opponents facing off openly....and as the VC and the NVA primarily fought a guerrilla war its dificult to represent them because 9 out 10 times they were invisible
...i didnt serve "over there" (too young for starters) but during the first half of the 80's i was enthralled by it, I read everything i could get my hands on,
'platoon" was my favorite movie from its release in '86 until the mid-to-late 90's only to be replaced by "Fight Club". everyone thought i was nuts that i didnt care much for "full metal jacket" but the street fighting in Hue was the exception, not the rule...good movie: undenliably, accurate portrayal of the Vietnam Conflict: no...basically I want all of you vets...especially viet nam...to know that i have the highest level of respect for all of you and I hold you all in the utmost esteem, but I think this game captures the spirit of the war over there and I hope it develops further
