Difficulty in adding new units in equip.file

I used to use Mark Garnett's Unit editor to add units to my games, but I decided to use Nikivdd's excellent guide this time instead since I am planning a making a lot of additions.
I understand a lot of the mechanics and what can cause errors when trying to put/add units into the equipment folder and I truly understand how important how much everything in order and perfect is the rule of success; BUT
I am trying to add a Lowe into the file and have cut and pasted the Stats direct from the Grand Armory stat file (which REZAF so graciously provided to us all) and even when I do it exactly like I am supposed to do, it does not work. I check in the Editor by Garnett to tweak the units. It also checks the equipment added to see if it is correctly added.
For the life of me I have spent all afternoon trying to add a stinking Lowe to the file without success despite all my juggling and fiddling. I put it in Excell and it is all out of line. I put it in Word and lined everything up, copied and pasted back into the equip file and it still doesn't work.
When I lined things up in the Excell file, of course I can't figure out how to get the changed data stats out to put them into the equipment file which is on notepad. WTF!!!??? :?

If you've used another editor before, just use it again - it will save you a lot of trouble learning a new way of doing it.

If using notepad, you will need to use <tab> instead of <Space> between the different figures, other wise it will think that the unit ID is "1700 Lowe 53 554 55 11 96... ", which is quite stupid se4eing as it should just be Unit ID 1700.

And Excel only seems to work if you have version 2007 or newer. I use '97 most of the time (for other stuff) and it doesn't work on there.

Yeah, as BNC said, it's probably the tabs messes up.

Could be when you just copy something from the forum, then paste into Excel or else the tabs get not "transferred" correctly, so the whole order gets wrong.

In a simple editor like notepad, you could always copy another units's entry, paste it somewhere below, then only edit the numbers etc. _without_ changing any tabs.
