Hey man, the look and feed and ambiance of this game are really fantastic and the game play creates so many realistic situations (like having to leave a unit longer than expected in the field due to cav needing to evac a unit in bigger trouble - love red box supply icons!). Buying soundtrack rights for a 58MB game would probably dwarf the development budget, I'm happy to use an external source for background tunes!

The game does not suffer at all for want of a music soundtrack. The background sounds are much more effective at creating atmosphere than any likely selection of period music would be (although when I think of Vietnam for some reason "I can't get no satisfaction" keeps playing in the back of my mind).

Understated is a much more powerful (and slightly creepy) effect. The chopper sound is iconic.

"Gotta get out of this place" by the Animal is my V65 tune.... :)

Thanks for the comment and support.

while music could bring mor eof a 60s feel, I entirely understand the money issue behind getting IP rights to use well known songs. I'm glad to see you are being frank with the players here (FAR too many copmpanies in the gaming industry just beat around the bush when speaking about monetary issues).

If getting a period soundtrack would yank up the price of the game by 3 euros or more, then I entirely support the decison to skip soundtrack.

This game developing business is not a cheap undertaking, we are a small private studio and would rather put resources into gameplay... :)

And I'm glad about that! I'd rather spend a couple seconds starting up my old Radio First Termer recordings than spend a few days regretting the fact I purchased a game where the devs cared more about the soundtrack than the game. I've already put in 3 hours and lost my first campaign, but I look forward to improving!
