Body Count /Casualty report

How are casualties counted for the report. Is it the same if a unit is completely annihilated, or just gimped. I was very surprised to see when I checked the cas report I suffered about as many casualties as the enemy. I never completely lost a unit, not one, and always medevac my injured units to the home base, and all of my infantry have vet stripes. In contrast I have completely eliminated enemy units. OTOH, It is possible I might have lost count just how many times my vet units got the red cross.

Casualties for the US also count wounded soldiers and damaged vehicles. It's basically the number of times you lost a combat.

Oh, I had made a post that should fit better here:
ERISS wrote:Historically, if I'm correct, the Casualty Report should show in the end something like:
U.S. 03
ARVN 12
V-C 50
NVA 10
And I don't think we have those results..
But, in the game, those casualties seem include their economical cost, which were half the reverse of the 1 US for 20 VC+NVA body-count: 1$ commie loss costs 10$ for the US,
so its's okay for the game Report, but it should be better explained that it includes the economical cost (not only the body-count).

That would be for the overall war, though, no? My impression was that the VC/NVA racked up huge casualties in their offensives, but the ratio in the guerrilla conflict was less lop-sided.

body count was a controversial strategy in the war, in V65 it is used merely as a factor in gaining promotion, to make it a bit more realistic we could ratchet up the ratio for NVA VC kills by a factor as they did suffer proportionately way more than the U.S. , we left it as a simple count to give the player a clear picture of how the game was progressing..

In Casualty Report, ARVN is counted as US, I guess.
So the body-count ratio of the report is good in the whole for (U.S.+ARVN) / (V-C+NVA) = 1/4.
That's an excellent base.
It's the ratios in each side which seem not good:
. In game we never have the historical (US notARVN) / ARVN = 1/4,
we have rather the reverse = 2/1 (maybe that's why ARVN is not shown, and counted as US..)
. Too for the 'commies', instead of the historical VC/NVA = 5/1 (if i'm correct),
ingame it is rather VC/NVA = 2/1
Ingame to Historical:
U.S. x0.3
ARVN x2.4
V-C x1.25
NVA x0.5
Maybe even multiply by 50(???) to have estimated actual body count, for the area(?) and time(?) of operation of the game
So, maybe the historical casualties could be shown in parenthesis:
In my exemple, it could display like that:
CASUALTY REPORT
US 10 (150)
ARVN 5 (600)
VC 40 (2 500)
NVA 20 (500)

There is missing what's the difficulty of the game, on the Report, for showing the picture to mates on internet.

Could there be some more details in the report?
detach ARVN from US, and precise how many NVA bases
so it could be like:
CASUALTY REPORT
US 10
ARVN 5
VC 40
NVA 20 (5 bases)
some games I feel more, from NVA, destroying bases than units; I'll like to see how much it was

Any thing is possible, could theoretically have stats down to unit level, the question is about priority and how much would the addition add to the overall game ?
As I have posted a few times we have a long list already
