Multiple Heroes on 1 unit

I am playing someone on the Fortress Helm multiplayer map and I have units and my opponent has units that have multiple heroes on one unit.
Does this happen in the actual game?
Can one of your units ever get more than one hero unit assigned to it?
Thanks I am still relatively new, but still a multiplayer champion.
Record now 52 wins 16 losses

Each unit can get up to 3 heros.

Great Thanks for that answer.
It makes me curious.
What is the best single unit someone has been able to amass in a campaign?
There base stats with all of their improvements and why do you consider it your best unit.
If you can upload a screen shot of it that would be sweet.

The best random hero I've seen is +3 - for either attack or defense. I don't think you can get more than a +1 hero for spotting, initiative, range or movement.
The best heroes are the ones that are scripted. You usually get more than one positive with them - for example, +4 def, +2 spotting, +1 initiative. You get all that while only taking up one hero slot. The only slight downside is that as I understand it, heroes are a function of how many kills a unit has, so, with a scripted unit, you'll be starting at zero even though you're in 1941, 1942 or whatever. Your other units are probably well on their way to perhaps their second hero by then.
I think we'd all agree that the best hero out there is the Rudel Stuka. +9 attack/+9 def is borderline silly, but, also absolutely indispensable when you're trying to deal with KV tanks attacking your Pzkfw III's.

I haven't gotten that far in the grand Campaign yet. I am in 1941 trying to play blind on Field Marshall difficulty.
If I understand you then, my crappy Bomber that I got my 2nd day in the Grand Campaign 1939 becomes a super bomber later on?
Wow! That will be exciting, when that happens.
I look forward to seeing what some other players have as there absolute best unit they have ever randomly had generated.
I only have single hero units and as such do not have a favorite, although my fighter with +1 spotting is pretty handy.

If you're a fan of using air units for spotting, try this trick. Take your 2nd Lt Rudel unit & upgrade it to a Bf110C. The 110 has a spotting range of 2 vs. 1 for the Stuka that Rudel initially comes with. So, unit base spotting of 2 + 2 for the hero bonus = a spotting range of 4 in clear weather. Nice. Admittedly, it's not historical, but, hey, it is a game.
This is a tactic I've adopted in my latest go around at the grand campaign. As a bonus, the 110 can also attack other air units so you can occasionally use it to mop up a 1 or 2 strength fighter or bomber that your 109's beat up but didn't quite kill.

Great idea. Thanks I would never have thought of doing that.
My infantry units are pretty devestating, but they are more easily lost than my planes.

You only get the fighting Rudel if the Recon Rudel is deployed when the upgrade is available.
Since you are playing blind, I won't say when this happens but keep deploying that Recon version like it says when you get him.
I've had an extra +3 attack hero on Rudel (a bit of a waste as he usually gets the maximum kill chance already) and two +3 attack on a strategic bomber, which is enough to cause real damage to allied tanks as well as stripping fuel and ammo. And it minced ships. The odds against getting a set of 3 +3 D or A heroes are pretty low for any one unit, but not so remote as to be unbelievable.

Oh Crap! I have to deploy it every scenario.
I have not done that.
I am at the start on the 2nd scenario of 1941. I know I am playing blind but at least tell me this.
Have I missed my chance? I mean is it too late to get that unit because I did not deploy him at the right time.
At least tell me that.
I would hate to have my hopes raised and dashed the same day, but a man needs to know the truth.
Ya know what I am saying?

Make sure you deploy Rudel in Russia.

Awesome I needed that. Thanks shawkhan2
I think if I understand the campaign that should be in 4th or 5th scenario in the 1941 campaign so I will just start deploying him here on out just to be safe.
Yay!

Hello Goose_2, it is the 4th scenario (Minsk '41), be sure to deploy Rudel there, and on turn 2 his doppelganger should appear.
Here is a post detailing everything that is connected with the Rudel special hero (messages etc.):

Thanks for the direct answer but please no more specific information as I am trying to play blind on its hardest level and having a good time with the challenge.
Thank you very much for this great game.
It will keep me in the pink for decades to come.
You guys at Slitherine have done Panzer General right, and i am one of your biggest fans.

Indeed its a great game and when you start getting a bit bored with it, just try out some of the awesome mod's that are available FOR FREE!!
My favorite unit was my 21 cm Nblwf with +1 range hero. So useful!

Love the Nebelwerfers but hate the ammo. +1 range on a Nebelwerfer is awesome. Best way to top that is to add a +1 move hero. Cheers.

Ok so if I understand correctly you can get multiple heroes on one unit, but they cannot stack.
In other words you cannot have multiple heroes with say +1 range on an artillery so that you end up with a cannon that can fire 6 hexes away or something like that. Correct?

I'm not sure about RANGE, but other heroes can stack.
I've had units with 2 SPOTTING heroes, 2 MOVEMENT heroes, 2 or 3 INITIATIVE, DEFENSE or ATTACK heroes.
RANGE is, I think, the only one I never had multiple heroes in a unit.
But that might be just luck...
Or lack of it!

Holy Cow!!! That just sounds awesome.
So this makes me come back to one of my original questions with this thread.
What has ended up being your best stacked unit that you have had? What were their stats and what made them your favorite?
I can't wait until I get one of these multiple hero units, but I just can't seem to drag myself away from Multiplayer.

I've had a +2 range 149mm Italian gun in Afrika Korps. Very good for counter battery fire and for suppressing AA to allow air attacks.
However, I'd rather have a move hero so the guns can keep up with the HW infantry and provide support all the way. I once had a 7.2" gun one with +2 move in Allied Corps. This was great for providing constant defensive fire cover to the Churchys that could actually damage hard targets. In conjunction with a Bishop or Sexton I could provide defensive fire that flattened both hard and soft targets - very nice.
And I've had +1 spotting on Ronsdorf, who has +2 to start with. Who needs recon when you have a Panzer IVG with 5 spotting?

5 spotting?! Might as well remove recon entirely if you have that!
