Hey guys, I've recently gotten into BA (meaning i've been playing it more than usual) and I have no clue how to properly move without getting ambushed by the enemy every so often (More so with the infantry that seem to get ambushed the moment you fast move them an inch). Is this something that is generally unavoidable? Am I just not careful enough?

I just finished failing the Ridgeway mission in the Desert 1942-43 scenarios and it's mainly because I moved at a snails pace using the hunt movement to try to avoid getting ambushed (which didn't work at all, what does this hunt movement do other than keep your accuracy after moving?). Like I'm too paranoid to move any of my tanks/transports/infantry more than 2 squares in fear of getting destroyed completely. The worst is when an enemy infantry unit is undetected in a house and I try to dismount my infantry only to get ambushed upon exiting, then try to suppress them with multiple vehicles to no avail.

Ah, well, that's just part of the fun of the game. There is a balance between carrying out a 'fast move' (gets you moving but less effective shooting after having done so) and the 'hunt' manoevre, which is a way of getting your forces within range and then delivering an effective shot. In general:

- Use scouts to look ahead, they can see further (and pick plenty of these useful units)
- Don't approach highly fortified areas using the 'fast move' approach.
- Use your skill and judgement to assess where enemy units are most likely to be positioned (bunkers, buildings etc) and either circumvent or suppress them.
- Send in low value units first to encourage enemy forces to open fire and reveal themselves, then return fire with your heavy weapons.
- Keep focussed on the objectives as well as conserving your forces. Everyone gets ambushed! Often, after breaking through the front line, it can be a bit of a mad dash for final objectives. Halftracks are useful for this.
- Try to make sure that tanks and infantry don't get seperated. Infantry can act as 'eyes' for the tank, which is much more effective. It may be useful to get infantry to sneak through woods etc and not fire. Similarly, if you are defending a mixed force, concentrate your artillery fire on the infantry to suppress them, so that enemy tanks are firing blind.
