The latest beta patch of SPM is now available both as a Steam beta branch and as a rar package in our FTP!

If you are running the game from Steam, please see here for more information.

Alternatively, if you bought the game from our online stores, please download the patch directly from the Matrix FTP at ftp://beta.matrixgames.com . When prompted, please specify the following username and password: SPMBetaTester/SpmBeta1114. I strongly recommend you to download the file using filezilla.

Inside the FTP you will find an rar file named SPM-Windows-Slitherine-1-2-0.rar. Just download it and unpack it so that it overwrites the contents of your current installation folder.

This patch includes a bunch of changes and tweaks. Make sure you check the full changelog here in order to get a complete overview of this release. Unless we find any major issues, this beta branch will become the official update soon. At that point, we'll make it available through the regular game branch on Steam and through the auto-updater tool for those that bought the game from our online stores.

Steam achievements, its for single-player, multiplayer or both?

It's single player for the moment, though I'm planning to add more achievements in a later update.

Looks like lots of great new additions that I need to try out still, but first thing I did was play through the tutorial to see how that goes.

Sadly, like many other aspects of the game, it is riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes which really cheapen the game A bit of a pet peeve of mine since it really makes the game look amateurish when showing it off. Below are annotated images and other thoughts and notes that I had while going through the tutorial.

The first season "End Season" tutorial step happens, then you end the season, then when you start the new season that same step pops up second time just before JFK's speech. The third season's "End Season" step happens twice as well.

"Recruiting Flight Controllers - Step 2" was popping up repeatedly while I was trying to pick the controllers I wanted to recruit. Same thing with "Recruiting more SET personnel". It appears as though the current step will repeatedly appear every X seconds until you finish which is handy if you forget what you are supposed to be doing, but when your task takes a bit more time it is just annoying. The timer should be longer on those tasks. Furthermore instead of this mechanic, a better system would be to have a button somewhere in the UI to recall your current step on demand.

I suspect these duplicate End Season steps are occurring because of the naive timer that redisplays a step.

I just loaded SPM on steam (7 Mar 15), and cannot get it passed v 1.1.1, how do I find the Beta 1.2.0 ?

Welcome to the forums! In order to access the beta branch, open up your Steam client, do a right click on Space Program Manager and select the 'Properties' option. Then go to the 'Betas' tab and select the 'beta2 - Public Beta' option from the drop down list. The steam client will then download the beta branch. The version number shown in the main menu when you run the game should be 1.2.0.
