couple of points

having a maurikian byzantine army am I reading it right at rule book amendments the detached koursores can be armoured superior LH if I want them to be?
also if LH are pinned to rear but not perpendicular can they only turn but not then wheel to line up to enemy unit pinning them? cheers Dino

As I understand it they can turn and then wheel to line up.

As I understand it they can turn and then wheel to line up.
Things that are pinned have a very specific set of actions. Turn in place is one. They could only turn and line up if they end further away.

Page 177 - All Byzantine BGs with all bases classified as Bow Swordsmen gain the option to have all bases classified as LH (same armour class etc). The list includes Maurikian.
So I think that is a 'yes'.
