I have played about a dozen games on Veteran level and I haven't even come lose to a victory. I have had mostly Decisive Defeats with my H&M score in the dumps by turn 20, never to rise.

My next strategy to try is to build more bases and stock them with artillery. I can often find the enemy, but then I have no way to kill them. I usually only have two artillery and a Cobra and often the enemy is not in range of the artillery and the Cobra has been damaged and is flying to base for repairs.

I am also ineffective is setting ambushes. They almost never catch any bad guys. Probably because I haven't been able to figure out a way to determine where the enemy trail is.

Additionally I generally only have a few infantry/ARVN units that can do anything because half of them are injured and scurrying back to HQ to get fixed up.

There are a number of strategic paths you can take to win, you need to try new things and get the unit combinations working together, and of course, base placement is key....

with good base support, you stand a better chance, too far apart and they don't support you and you can't resupply, too close and you need to many for the map and run out of money, so it's a balance and play style with a bit of luck who and what gets attacked and when, mines are a killer, same as rpg, lost a few choppers to them
