Restoration British and Regimental guns.

In the Restoration British it lists that regimental guns are 0-1 per foot guards or other infantry BG.

In the Tangiers Garrison special campaign it specifies:
Guards and other infantry regiments are replaced by Tangiers garrison Infantry Below.

In the Scotland special campaign as an option
Replace other infantry regiments or newly recruited foot with all shot regiments.

So the question is can these regiments have regimental guns. If so is it both or just one of them more probably the Scottish option.

The Tangiers garrison Infantry are in affect a new line completely replacing all the Guard and other options, which would suggest no as its an all or nothing option.

The Scottish option is replacing some of the current regiments with all shot regiments which would suggest yes as the other regiments would still have them and this is an optional replacement, in effect just getting rid of the pikes.

Please discuss!!

Ben as The lists stand there seems nothing to prevent average foot regiments (even all shot ones) from having regimental guns. There is no option however for poor regimental guns so these would not be available to newly raised regiments. 18 bases of newly recruited foot are off course compulsory in the Scottish option. Equally regimental guns would not be available for the superior foot unit allowed in Scotland. The latter is totally accurate as the Cameronians did not have regimental guns at the Battle of Dunkeld.

So that's a "yes" to RGs for the Tangiers Garrison? Any time limit, or all the way from 1660-1684?

Its a yes but only after 1685 when the rest of the Restoration British army get its regimental guns.

Ah, so that's actually a no, then (given that the garrison leaves in 1684).

Had not spotted the lack of overlap. Note to self: Must look more carefully. :D

Perhaps if they went home very slowly (by land, say) and got into a scrap en route, just before they got the ferry back to Portsmouth?
