No, I'm not joking.

I'm at the point in the campaign where we've just finished off Vecintogetorix.

The 5 most experienced units in my army are


Militia, L40
Militia, L28
Principes, L27
Spearmen, L25
Skirmishers, L25

That one Militia unit, you see, is from my starting army, and they've just always been in the thick of things. I saw then go from L27-L30 in one battle. That was the first scenario against the "Giants". Pffffft, I put that Militia unit in the river, with a little support, and they chewed all 3 units of Giants to bits. They routed eventually, but they did they job.

But I look at that Militia unit, and I wonder if I wouldn't have been better off to have replaced it with an Auxilia unit way back in the early game.

Has anybody else seen one unit really out-level the rest of your army like this?

I haven't seen anything closer to that I understand that "Giants" are "dumbos"...their stats must be amazing, please post some of them for comparison!!!!

Don't know about Auxilia, maybe too expensive to get that early and maximize their level, but I've been thinkin' about using v?©lites instead militia because they have the same stats plus the javelin-throw and they're almost half the price (auxilia, I mean). Dumbos will get mad with them (or so I hope) in my new roman campaign.

i've had skirmishers up past level 45 before

my firs Malitia group reached nearly 70 (i think) or somewhere there abouts. But i used them at the front of every battle in the roman campaign so they got loads of kills.
