Gully Question

1) P139 - Troops in a gully are only visible from outside within 1MU.
Is this within 1MU of the gully or the troops?

2) Troops in a gully can see out. If they shoot I cannot see anywhere that the enemy can shoot back. I have ready page 140 and cannot see anything to cover this.

1 MU from the gully. Troops within the gully are visible to one another.

If they are within 1 MU of the edge of the gully they can shoot back.

I think the difference here is that some terrain blocks line of sight both ways (Forest, Plantation, Village, Crest line)
Other terrain provides concealment for light foot only until they expose themselves by shooting (Vineyard, Brush, etc.)
But Gully permits troops to see out without being seen, so they can shoot without exposing themselves. A sort of indirect fire, if you will.

We disagreed. Read the BHGS clarifications.

Thanks - it seemed the fairest solution.
