Play Options

Hello i bought this game on Steam. Is it possible to play this game without it being connected to Steam? I tried to run the game on my desktop with an icon shortcut from the Steamapp common file but it still wont work. Im just curious in case i cant get Steam to work at times. Hope someone can give me advice thank you.
