I have been recording my games in speadsheets using Microsoft Excel, below is an example:

Ave sacredzero

Yes, if you scroll over to the right and check out the end column under the heading "Promotions" all the Ps indicate those units who got promoted.

Good grief  You have far too much time on your hands Spedius :)
I just take screenshots if I want to record stats but your method is certainly more comprehensive. How long does it take to compile and enter that data ?

How many people would be interested in some way to dump out a record of your armies in a human-readable format? Would it be something a lot of people would use?

If so we could potentially add it to the patch/expansion list.

Cheers

It would be useful, especially for comparing armies at various parts of the campaign.

Ave venividvici,

I've found if you're repeating something, in this case recording my battles during the Roman campaign, a spreadsheet is, ultimately, a major time-saving device. Much of the data is uniform (constant) and therefore you only have to think about it once and, if you've covered all the elements needed, you need not think about it again. Plus excel is so user-friendly for someone as talentless as me that, as an aid in clarifying my thoughts, it's of inestimable value. Something to ponder on, I only need create a "master" and copy it as many times as necessary. You can group all your speadsheets, of identical content, so that an alteration to one is an alteration to all. If you have repetitive work on spreadsheets you can write simple "macros"! The example above is one of seventy in that "book". I have other analysis sheets in the "book", ie. kills to losses ratios, losses of fame, xp needed for promotions, recruitment sequences etc. My maths has improved in leaps and bounds since I've been using spreadsheeets. They've helped me too when trying to get my one-cell brain around some abstract concept, like, how many Romans does it take to change a light-bulb? Answer: just one the rest are out conquering Europe! What have the Romans done for us anyway? Surely the subject of yet another topic!!!???

Finally, I will be refighting these battles many times, so it makes sense to record all relevent information on the first visit. The first time through I wrote everything down, a massive time-consuming exercise. On subsequent visits I had my spreadsheets, much more efficient and simpler. I would like to think that my tactics and results will improve with each run-through.

Ave Spedius!!!

Ever heard of openoffice????

http://www.openoffice.org/

They've got a free spreadsheet (and many more things...for free) and they update regularly

You're a very meticulous person, indeed :) . I enjoy the game a completely different way (more arcade, if you want), i'm not that statistic freak  You should try Football Manager 2006, if you like stats, BTW (well, don't try if you don't like football).

One question, though. How do you take the in-game data to the .xls file?

Ave Duncan,

I wish you well too (te saluta), I'd forgotten that Spanish is a Latin based language, as is English!

Thanx for the info and compliment, I'll certainly check out your, thoughtfully incuded, link.

"How do you take the in-game data to the .xls file?" Nothing too clever unfortunately, I simply type it in!

In one word...Wow  , you're truly devoted to arena. Thanks I haven't got internet at home, I wouldn't like to fight online battles against you...

I would love to. Legion Arena design is so competitive that I would be oh so nice to have lots of statistics to improve next game. Adiction guaranteed.

If it saves me taking loads of screens of my stats and saving them into individual battle/game level files I would definately be interested in a running log of stats that I can easily print out. If the logger can produce stats as detailed as those presented above by Spedius that would be even better!
