commander - double moves in Maneuver phase?

In the Maneuver phase, can a commander move to a BG, and then also move along with that BG, thereby exceeding his normal move distance?

So, for instance, can a commander move 7" up to a Cv unit. Then can the commander move along with that Cv unit with it moves a further 4" (allowing the commander to have moved a total of 11" in that phase)?

See top of p 75...generally a commander can move up to 14 MU in the manouvre phase because he is allowed to move twice. The large exception to this is if his move invoves him being/getting within 6MU...if he starts a move within this distance he is limited to 7MU max, and if he is moving towards enemy, after a first move his second must stop at 6MU from any enemy.

If a commander starts a move alone then he has to make the whole of his move on his own.

A BG that starts without a commander cannot make a double move and cannot get the CMT benefit of having a commander with it.

Think of commanders on their own as little BGs, as all BGs or BLs have to move in sequence it means that the commander once moved is done for the movement phase. There is nothing of course to stop him moving again in the JAP and in the JAP he can move withing 6 MU of the enemy even if he moved twice in the movement phase.

Commanders can really shift if they want to.
