Charge + VMD versus non-evaders?

Scenario: a unit of knights have a unit of LF partly in front of them 3" away. Beyond the LF are a unit of MF 5" away. The knights announce a charge and the LF evade away to safety. However, can the knights now use extra movement from a VMD to contact the MF that would otherwise have been out of charge range? If so, it seems like in this scenario, LF can be a hindrance to the owning player.

Thanks!

The knights must use the extra movement and this may indeed bring them into contact with troops that are outside the normal movement distance.

Always try and remember to take into account possible VMD when moving troops close to dangerous enemy :D

But note that you only take a VMD if ALL targets evade.

True enough. It is often a bad idea to stand behind a tasty morsel when there are predators about.

And don't forget that a step forward can also enable you to contact additional targets that are beyond normal charge distance.
