I cunningly lured some Roman Legion into a forest .
It was a 4 base battlegroup , and two bases were in the woods.

2 bases were in the woods and disorder means they lose 1 dice/3

But the two in the woods were getting one dice each for a total of 2 , so they didn't lose any dice in the combat.

Correct ?

Correct,

Essentially swordsmen are not that badly affected by terrain and loss of formation. Spearmen on the other hand stop being steady which against swordsmen is a bad thing.

When you say Roman Legion, do you mean HF or MF?

If HF, then they are seriously disordered and lose 1 dice per 2.

If MF, then Hammy is correct, although disordered, they should lose 1 dice per 3. As only 2 bases are disordered there is no loss of dice.

Good point Pete although when I come to think about it there is no such thing as woods in FoG.

In short if you are losing 1 per 3 and only have 2 impacted bases you lose nothing. There is a similar effect when you have a BG of elephants in the middle of a line of your own mounted.

OK, so I read the second line, not the first

You are therfore right Pete, the legionaries would be severely dissordered and lose 1 dice for every 2
