Peasants in Medieval French List?

It looks like I need to pick up somewhere between 40-64 figures for this Battle Group.
How should they be armed -- pitchforks?
I guess they can't have any helmets or anything?
Any suggestions?

I´ve got some for my Hungarian army. used a mix of essex and museum miniatures.

You could make little baguettes out of green stuff.
Also little berets.
