Representation of Commanders

In the army list books they specify how the commanders should be represented (as men at arms, lancers, etc), but I can't seem to see any reason for this beyond historic versimmilitude, as the representation of generals would seem to have no effect on play whatsoever. Is this correct?

Thanks

I think it is and I have already seen some fantastic bases representing commanders that dont follow the recommendation! As long as your opponent understands which bases are the commanders and they arent TOO similar to a troop base, specially in smaller scales, I guess its amatter of choice!

Treat it as a guideline for those who are a bit unsure - in practice it doesn't really matter but they are the most likely historically.

Yes.

Note that it says "should be" and not "must be".

Great, thanks... I now have a use for my dismounted Vlad, Nicolae, and Sir Stefan figures...
