Question about Light Foot

I notice that in the Rise of Rome lists, some Skirmishers are Drilled, other Undrilled... but they cost the same points?

Is there any advantage to Drilled Light Foot or Light Horse? The rules rules don't seem to give an advantage to Drilled Skirmishers in terms of manueverability. So does it matter whether they are Drilled or Undrilled?

I only ask because I was going to depict my Skirmishers as barbarian mercenaries, but looking at the list maybe they should be trained regulars instead.

In game terms there is absolutely no difference between drilled and undrilled skirmishers hence they cost the same points.

This is not quite true - there is one very obscure case where there is a difference. If you want to move a battle line of drilled artillery and light foot you have to make a CMT to move, you count as undrilled if any BG is undrilled - so in this case you the skirmishers make a difference.

Or if you want to make the one complex move for skirmishers, retiring 3" while facing the same direction.

No, the required score of 8 is only for undrilled non-skirmishers

IIRC, drilled troops and skirmishers make a complex move on a final dice roll of 7.

Might become an important factor for campaigns, I imagine.
