The Battle of Grannacus - Bug?

I noticed that the time I'm able to begin my attack that I start at 52 seconds. However, the conditions stipulate that I have 60 seconds to win.
No matter how I try, I cannot do it without the 8 seconds that I was deprived.
Maybe you can tell me how to get those precious 8 seconds back.
If you need a copy of the saved game, I can send it to you because I cannot advance any further in the game.
By the way where can I see what scenario number that I have completed?

What orders do you issue? If you issue a charge there is only a second pause before they run off. If you issue a normal advance there is a slightly longer pause, but only around 2-3 seconds.
What is happening for the first 8 seconds?

WEhat happens is a delay for the camera to pan around and when I'm given control, the timer starts at 52 seconds.

As soon as the battle starts, the timer shows 52 seconds.

I can send you a copy of the saved file, if you tell me how I can do this?
Try beating that scenario starting at 52 seconds and game on Hard. Heh. Should be interesting.
Oh well. I tried putting the game level to EASY and lost by 2 seconds.
I set my army on charge and still lost by 2 seconds.
I'm stuck, guys. I cannot progress any further. Man, this is frustrating.

Ah I see. I was testing in debug without the camera panning turned on. It does look like a bug. The timer should count from when you get direct control. I think this is our first real bug!
Have you tried dropping the difficulty level to the easiest to get past this mission & then returning to your desired level?
We'll investigate it, but I don't want to release a patch too soon in case there are other issues. I hate having lots of tiny patches as it gets confusing for everyone.
If you still have problems after dropping the difficulty we could send you a version of the an extra 10 seconds to complete it.

I'm sure you can make up 2 seconds if you revise the plan

You're so close!

Thanks for the quick analsis on the bug. But, I've tried everything. Even the EASY setting...
Here's what my army consists of:
Leadr, level 20
Aux. Light Inf, level 30
Aux. Light Inf, level 28
Skirmishers, level 29
Histati, level 24
Spearmen, level 15
Aux Archers, level 20
Legionaires, level 18
Legionaires, level 7
Legionaires, level 5
Nobel calvary, level 16
Scouts, level 25
I still cannot win due to the lack of the 8 seconds.
Thanks for the responses.
Please send the 10 second patch to my home email:

The problem is that I want to be able to get by it so I can continue. But try it on the HARD setting and let me know if you can... Heh heh.

One other trick is to click the mouse and skip the camera flyby.
If that doesn't help try this -
www.slitherine.com/LegionArena/scenario_81.zip
Download this & unzip it to the DB directory. Overwrite the old map & you'll have an extra 10 seconds.

Is it suppose to show that I have 70 minutes.. Great! I can take my time destroying them...

Did it with 3 seconds left to spare... would you like the save file sent back? I moved your heavy cav all the way to right right, and set way points to get them in quickly round the back, then charged everything else up the left hand side... Your right though, its quite tough.

I tried that maneuver as well but still lost because of the delay when my heavy calvary were engaged with their heavies.
Good job...
Now try it on VERY HARD and let me know.... Heheh heh.
Trying to Click on units and drag to new location?

Another problem is that when I click the icon to set up my entire army, i have trouble clicking on individual units and moving them.
Is there something I'm missing?
I can highlight the unit by left-clicking but when I hold the left mouse down and try to move this unit it doesn't recognize my hold to move it.
Try it on the saved file I sent you.

:-p okie doke, see what i can do!

Left-clicking and moving

It seems like you can select a unit by clicking on either its base area or its graphic, but you need to select the base for movement, or something like that. If anything is directly adjacent, such as a unit behind, it makes it a little awkward to pick up the forward unit rather than accidentally selecting the back one. Not a "bug" per se, but not as smooth and simple as it should be.

Just bought the Mac version of Legion Arena and am having a problem getting past the Battle of Grannacus scenario. Have followed the strategy tips of fellow warriors, but am continually running short of time. Can a Mac user get that extra ten seconds? Thanks!

Can you try the same file we use on PC, in teh link further up the thread, as I imagine it is in the same format used on the MAC. If that doesn't work it could be tricky.
