Sorry to be a pain but is there any news of the official QRF, please?

If not - I have down loaded the one from the Yahoo! Group, but can you confirm that this (whilst not being "Official") is uptodate and accurate to use in the meantime.

Cheers

Since these rules are good and will sell well I'm sure there will inevitably be a FOG v 2 or 1.2 or whatever. I would suggest the QRF be on light card stock and be placed in the center of the rules and be torn along perforations and the center of the book be a two page spread of a battle in progress or maps of the ancient world for those who can't remember where Syracusa, Bithynia, or Cyrene were.

I have fixed a couple of errors in the QRS on the FoG Yahoo group files section (POA for light spear in impact phase and wording of death roll table). I am unaware of any other inaccuracies.

I have also produced a compressed (two pages rather than four) version of the QRS, also on the Yahoo group, for people with good eyesight.

Thanks for your QRF's I find them very useful when playing, it is very unfortunate that no one at Slitherine has still got an official one out. For such a well designed and tested set of rules it is a bit of a mystery to me.

Can you check your tables for reason to test cohesion. It appears to have 1HP3B to shooting down twice, once under immediately where it belongs and one under the end of the phase where it does not.

Thanks, fixed. I've also added a terrain effects table to both the one page and the two page versions on the Yahoo page.

Suggestions -

Take your time and do it right.

Have the damn thing proofread 3 times by 3 different people, one of whom is not a gamer. The 2 gamers will proof it mainly for game-related stuff. The non-gamer is to catch all the other things (grammar, diction, spelling, general stupidity and typos, etc) which the gamers will overlook on their focus on game elements.

Then have Iain get his wife to look it over, just for a final proof.

In short, do everything humanly possible to make sure the information in the QRF is absolutely and completely error-free before you publish it :)

You'll be glad you did!

Oh yes, and strongly consider offering the QRF in a laminated version. Some will prefer to laminate their own, but most will be glad to have it available in a version resistant to tea, coffee, beer, bongwater, grease from fish & chips, etc...

Don't bother, just release it as a pdf and we will all tell you within 10 minutes whether there are any typos on it. Next day do the official release.

There you go all that heart ache bypassed

I have to agree. With such a slick easyplying set of rules I have never seen it so hard to get a QRF sheet. All the good sets of rules I have played and most of the bad ones have it as a seprate sheet ready to be used, abused, wrote on, copyed, beer spilled on ets, etc.

I like the PDF idea. That way I could lmainate it or print it on thicker paper. And maybe this should be a little higher on the "to do list" that some of the other things. Gamers are used to waiting for army lists. But they are not used to not having QRF sheets to use and abuse. :x

Hi,

The QRS is very useful, but I wonder if you could change the sentence in the quality re-rolls table:

A commander in the front rank increases quality
one level for close combat dice only (Elites re-roll 3s)

Cheers.

More profit in army lists than free QRS's :)

To be honest the unofficial one on the yahoo groups is very good. Not really sure what the official one will add anyway
