Just trying to understand difficult moves and failed CMT's
If I fail my CMT and I'm within 6MU's of the enemy , do I have to make a full move forward ?

e.g
my Warriors are directly in front of some romand Cav , I fail my CMT to make a nudge forward , so do I thunder forward my full move or can I sit still ?

If my slingers in the woods are close to the enemy and I want to move up to the edge of the woods , I have to take a CMT as it's a difficult move being within 6MU ? What if I fail ?

You always have the option to not move.

Your slingers being LF do not have to CMT to make such a move as a difficult move is Simple for them and not Complex. Do not confuse Difficult Moves with Complex moves - slightly counter intuitive but clear if you look at the table on complex moves as well as reading the bit on difficult moves.

Thanks
but I can't find where it says that skirmishers are exempt from the difficult moves rule ? Page 41 doesn't say that skirmishers are not affected ? I

I know almost all manouvers are simple for skirmishers , but not when with 6MU of the enemy and advancing ?

still confused.

I think you are still confusing Difficult Moves with Complex Moves.

Look at the table on page 42, advances section top line which is the Difficlut Moves bit. There you will see that for skirmishers a Difficult move is Simple and not Complex and if it is not Complex you don't CMT.

As far as I can see from the chart a 'difficult' move is simple for all but 'other undrilled' which is something we had missed to be honest - so thanks for asking or we might have not found out til we tried it on someone who knows the rules well!!!!

Ok thanks
I think I get it now , I'm trying to complicate things too much.

I've now created an Idiots guide to Difficult Moves page for my site.

"Idiots guide to Difficult Moves"

Hopefully it's right  - maybe I don't understand them either !

Yep technically right.

Personally I prefer to express it after the thickos bit that these guys need help unless things are nice and obviousso:
  • They are fine if they havea general with them

They are fine if they are far from enemy so their brains have time to get the hang of it after a few duhs and dohs

They are charging someone as they find this is easy stuff to get the hang off (after all most of the list in the above do the "go and hit him hard" pretty well - another good reason not to make fun of them :) )
But if they are trying to do wheel or short moves near enemy without a general hollering at them, they find that DIFFICULT, and have to take a CMT when others wouldn't.

LOL. Thanks the "duh" rule actually helps me make sense of it all.
