It seems there is a limit to the number of active Game Center matches you can have. Every time I try to start a new Game Center match when I have 30 "active" matches going, I receive an error that the match can't be started because it would exceed the maximum number of sessions.

Matches that have timed out due to opponent inactivity are counted in this 30 session limit. It wasn't a big deal when I first started playing. Now that I have been playing for several months, I have 12 matches that have timed out due to opponent inactivity, so I can only have 18 truely active matches going. At this rate, in another 3 months, I'll only be able to have 6 active matches, then eventually 0.

Is this a GC limitation, a DoM limit, or a bug that I am running into? Is anyone else running into this?

I think I figured out how to remove matches from the "Opponent's Turn" section after a match has timed out due to opponent inactivity.

The first thing is to open the match and make sure that the win is confirmed. After the "You Win!" message is displayed, go back to the list of games and resign the game you just opened. I have used this method four times now and it hasn't impacted my win/loss record or my rating.

I'd still like to know if the 30 active matches limit is being imposed by Apple or if it is a limit imposed by the DoM app. Can this limit be increased?

30 is an Apple limit. I don’t know any way to increase it.
