1) If a commnader is with a battlegroup that breaks , he stays with them as they run , if the pursuers are still in contact , can the commander leave the BG in the JAP ?

2) What happens to a commander that is with a unit that autobreaks and still in contact with pursuers , can he leave the BG before it disperses in the JAP ?

3) Cav cav break off if the enemy foot are not in good order ? So can Cav break off by choice ?

Yes, yes, no.

Correct. Basically a commander has to rout when hig BG routs (anda 10-12 shot at killing him if pursuers stay in contact with him), but he can move whenever he normally would to get away after that initial pursuit 9usually (the JAP).
