How about a dramatic moment from the Soviet side? This is Operation Typhoon, early in turn 5, vs. an esteemed opponent, not the AI. This is the aftermath of a brave attack by the mighty 4th Tank Brigade and Belov Cavalry into Vyazma, destroying the Hun 10 Pz and forcing the chastened survivors of the 6 Pz to run.
Our comrades in Yartsevo and Yelnya are rescued. The VP total stands at 6. The invader is defeated!
It evolved when a desperate but strong German attack into Kalinin bogged. When the 4th threatened Vyazma, the 6th came from Rzhev on turn 4, which allowed the Soviet 22nd Army to move into Staritsa, depriving the Germans in Kalinin of supply.
In fairness to my opponent, I did little better when the sides were switched, failing to get past the first Russian echelon. In this game, he suffered poor attack results in turn 1, so the entire affair has been a frantic attempt to secure victory points. Otherwise, I don't he would have gambled so much.
