If an armored attacker eliminates all opposition in an edge space with an Axis map exit, can it breakthrough and exit for vp?

I believe I have done so in games against the AI, but was not afforded the option in a recent tournament game. I won, but a day or two later than I'd hoped.

In two separate turns, I cleared Hingeon. I don't recall the circumstances of the first combat. On the second, two Pz divisions started in the space. They were joined by another from Huy.

I've looked through the full rules but have so far missed any reference to this situation. Thanks!

In the full rules it states Axis units may exit "only during normal movement (not breakthrough or retreat)."
