Slingers

I'm playing Rome vs Carthage and was wondering what happens when or if Slingers get charged and caught? There is no melee weapon for them so am not sure how to handle that case? Has anyone run into this and how did you solve it?

Combat is resolved normally it is just that they have no impact or melee PoA, therefore, if the enemy have any they are always going to be on - PoAs.

The capabilities ststas are not the weapons they have but whether they are good enought with any weapons they may carry to get a PoA.

For example if they are hit by LF with Javelin, Light Spear capability the slingers will be at a - PoA at Impact because of the Light Spear and then at equal PoA in melee as the other LF have no melee capability either.

Of course if the slingers try and evade and get caught in the rear they are -- PoA at impact as all troops are in such a position.

All as nick says and if hit by LH in the open - a common one
+ for Mounted vs LF

So ++/-- if JLS LH and +/- if not (and 2x the dcie fro the LH too of course)

So generally speaking the correct response if they get caught is to .... take them OFF.

Thanks guys, I was thinking of melee as the weapon listed in the starter army for impact and melee. That makes more sense now, LOL another thing we were doing wrong or thinking the wrong way.

Speaking of LF, in the starter army on my roster card I have Shooting POA = javelin, Impact = Light Spear , Melee = Light Spear. It had only listed Light Spear in the list once so I assumed they would use it in both Impact and Melee, that was a correct assumption right?

So since there is no Melee POA for light spear I should just remove it from the roster to keep it cleaner.

Brian

PS: The index is incorrect for Spearmen, it lists them as p18, p77, p129. Its actually p130. Its only a page but when in a game you don't need to spend the extra time searching : )

Light Spear is indeed only an impact phase PoA and not a melee one as well.
