Thanks

Well you did ask ;)

FWIW they can have a decent force of armoured cavalry, lots of hoplites, all protected, the option of some or all being drilled with no compulsary poor ones like the DBM list has, a reasonable number of archers and slingers and an interesting assortment of optional troops like tyrants bodyguard, gauls, spaniards and various italian types.

All in all it is rather like classical greek but with better cavalry (unless you count Thessalians) and more and different medium foot.

Thanks for the info Hammy. LOL its nice to have a heads up. I want to buy a Syracuse Army next. It will be nice to be able to field a little more Cavalry than I am currently doing as a Roman commander. And it sounds like they have a good mix of troop types.

Ah, cool. I had been running half my Hoplites as Poor and the cavalry as poor and undrilled. Sounds like I may be able to upgrade a bit! I'll need to paint up some Italians to go along with my Spanish and Gauls.

Best,

Suracuse was noted for having decent cavalry for it's time and in FoG they can definitely have decent cavalry.

If you want poor hoplites the option is there but in my experience poor spearmen are not that good.

Yeah, that was my experience, too.

I have a lot of cavalry figures to paint, but after DBM came out, I stopped playing Greeks because spear armed troops sucked too badly. Now, the Greeks are looking viable again!

Cool, I'll be able to do this army in FoG too. Sounds like it should be fun to do.
