Game Center, iO6 and Move Exchanges

A buddy and I have a game going on via Game Center. We both have an iPad 3 running iO6. We are finding that we have to go through the Main Menu of the game in order to continue the game after receiving notification of each other's moves.

For example, my opponent's move is pending. My opponent then submits his move. With the game already open, I receive a notification of my opponents move via Game Center and a little red 1 in the lower left of the game screen. However, the game screen in the upper right says I am still waiting for his move and does not change status even if I wait several minutes. However, if I then select Main Menu, Play and then select our game, his move then comes through.

Is this intended or a bug?

Thanks,

Jim Dauphinais

Hi Jim,

In general, if you are playing a game center game and leave the game open, a turn coming in will replay on your screen and you will be ready to go. For technical reasons I don't fully understand there are situations where that doesn't work: you have to go out and back in. Annoying and should be fixed -- but fortunately easy to work around for the present.

Probably a bug. If the game is currently on screen, you should be good. If you leave for another app, you may need to go through the menu.

Yes, this is exactly what is happening. At least with regard to passes. That is, if I leave the app open and my opponent passes, everything works fine. If I switch to a different app while waiting for a move, I have had to go through via the main menu after reopening the app in order for his move to come through.
