UK Games Expo 30th May - question

Hi all,

The Games Expo people are talking to me about the FoG tournament(s) for 2015 at their event. Space is very much at a premium this year and also there is a desire on the part of the organisers for tournaments to be at least 16 players strong. As a result they are suggesting that there is a single FoG tournament at the Expo this year either FoG:AM or FoG:R

Looking at tournament numbers of late FoG:R seems to be overtaking FoG:AM and as s this is a one day event and there seems to be a strong FoG:R circuit in the South of the country I am leaning towards making the FoG competition FoG:R.

What the organisers don't want is two 8 player tournaments and to be honest I am not sure that I would get more than 8 players for FoG:AM but that I might for FoG:R.

Please let me know your thoughts, the event needs to be registered on their system as soon as possible.

Cheers

Hammy

Hi Hammy

If I played it would have to be FOGAM but I'm equally happy just coming up and playing in the board/card gaming tournaments with Jacob. :D

Hammy

I was hoping that you would run -A/M, but I could play -R if that was the only option.

The problem I have is that the organisers of the event only want reasonable sized tournaments and I am not convinced I would get 16 players for FoG:AM :(

I am wondering if it might be possible to do a combined competition with AM players playing other AM players and R players playing other R players then having an overall winner based on total score.

That sounds like a good plan Hammy which I can't see anyone objecting too.

It should be easy to have even numbers representing each as there are a few happy to swap between rulesets as needed.

Now I just need them to tell us what board/card gaming competitions they have lined up for which days.

OK, the organisers have OKd us for a combined FoG tournament. As long as one player is happy to float from Ancients to Renaissance then things will be fine.

It is not going to make the draw perfect Swiss but even with only 16 players a 3 round comp is not really enough to get Swiss to work fully anyway.

1st place will go to the overall highest scorer from either period, 2nd to the highest from the other period and 3rd to the highest score not getting 1st or 2nd.

Hope that makes sense.

The booking system is not live yet, I will let people know when it activates.
