I am new to ancient and have a couple of questions about the Numidians.

1. What are Imitation legionaries and what type of figure should I get for them?

2. Who are their allies? (Spanish?)

Thanks,
Bryan

Equipment basically the same as legionaries of that period.

Roman allies around 10 AD -so more of the above :-)

I used the Donnington Marian Roman figures for the imitation legionaries in my Numidian army. I suspect there are no original sources showing what these soldiers looked like, so it's as good a guess as any. I need to paint another sixteen figures to allow me to field twenty-four bases.

Personally I doubt they would be so well equipped. Donnington make a Numidian Roman-trained infantry figure which I suspect is a more likely appearance.

I suggest a mixture of these and Punic citizen infantry (with thureos).

Who can resist the lure of pointy helmets? They look great. Probably more accurate and who wants to be mistaken for a Roman. Ptui.
