Caracole II Tournament Organization
1. Any number of players can participate.
2. Initial Setup (Phase I):
a. Once signup is closed, players will be placed in a several “pods”.
b. Each pod will contain players of varying experience/skill -- from very experienced to newbies.
c. The number and size of the pods will be based upon the total number of players who sign up.
d. These are “round-robin” pods. Every player will play two games against every other player in the pod. (See challenges, below.)
3. Subsequent Setup (Phase II):
a. After Phase I is complete, or nearly complete, players will be re-ordered into new pods. These pods will group players by their scores in Phase I. The players with the highest scores will be in Pod A, and the players with the next highest scores will be in Pod B, and so on.
b. Again, all players will play two games against all the other players in the pod.
c. Final results will be determined by this Phase. Players in the top pod will be ordered as the highest place finishers, and within their places by their scores in Phase II. (i.e., players from Pod B, can’t “jump” players in Pod A for final positions.) Also note that Phase I points don’t carry into Phase II (their only use is for pod assignments).
4. Challenge construction: A player chooses two historical opponents (Filter Army List is “On”) and proposes a challenge to another player in the pod. The challenged opponent replies by choosing which army to play and creating the challenge on the MP server. Again, every player will challenge every other pod opponent once and will be challenged by every opponent within the same pod.

5. Announce Challenge: Announce when the final challenge is up on this thread. Include password or send password by PM to your opponent.
6. Reporting of Results: Post results to this thread in the following format.
PlayerA (Army Name) won vs PlayerB (Army Name)
<optional write up describing battle>
Here’s an example
iversonjm (Parliamentarian 1642-1643) won vs flatsix518 (Royalist 1642-1643)
I clubbed flatsix like a baby seal. Wasn’t even close.
7. Winning:
a. Players will receive one point for each game won and zero points for each game lost. Note that no games can result in a draw.
b. Phase I results will be used for Phase II pod assignment. Phase II results will be used for final scoring.
8. Tempo of Play: It is expected that all players will make at least one move a day in each of their on-going games. Anyone who cannot sustain that pace should not sign up. If your opponent is neglecting to do this, please PM me and I’ll try to nudge on your dawdler.
It is generally understood that players will want to pace themselves and only play a few games at a time. So feel free to manage game starts to what you can handle – but try to keep a good pace up once starting a game.
I’m hoping that each pod round robin can complete in a two month period. (Phase I complete by end of March. Phase II complete by end of May.) Those are goals – I’ll manage as needed.
9. Player conduct:
a. All players should be mostly self-managing. That is, post your challenges, accept your challenges, and play at a reasonable pace. Complete the game to conclusion.
b. Rude behavior, name calling, offensive postings will not be tolerated. Anyone who engages in such behavior will have his or her results deleted. And I’ll drop them in my personal oublier.
