I see that the suggested periods for the FOG AM competition have been published on their forum.
Is there any indication what the proposed periods for the FOG R competitions are going to be yet?
As there maybe a need for new armies to be painted then the longer we have the better.

Ta very much,

I have received a separate email from Don Avis saying: -
"Coincidentally mails have been flying between myself Alasdair and Jim today trying to sort out themes and organisation. It turns out that none of us will be at Campaign this year through holidays (myself and Jim) and Alasdair is running a modern event. If you know anyone who is interested in running this event which will involve list checking, on day umpiring and period scoring please let me know."
I have been in contact with a few other players and Ben has offered to organise Campaign. I have said I am happy to assist.
We need to sort out the themes for the three periods. I have suggested that one option would be we could use previous themes from Campaign or other competitions as the basis for this year.
Thoughts on this and or suggestions would be welcomed.
Bob

How about a Korean War theme? Probably lots of morphable armies out there, but rarely seen on table.

				Hi Guys
Looks like I have volunteered to run this.
Ok going to have three era's
1) Non-European
2) Early Western European
3) Later ???? One Idea so far (Not ECW or TYW both being done this year, despite my own TYW preference)
If you like or hate a particular option say so, if you don't mention one I will assume you can take or leave it. If you like an idea but have any suggestions to improve it these are also welcome.
If you have any competing suggestions, make them with appropriate army lists/caveats, as I don't have much time to sort this out.
So suggestions for 1)
a)America before the Spanish (Not a firearm or Horse in sight)
Any list N-S America pre 1522
b)Last Trumpet of the Elephants, Southern Asia 1650-1698
Minimum of 4 Elephant bases, no more than 16 bases of Sup/Elite
Mughal
Vietnamese (May have Khmer allies)
Thai Burmese and Khmer (May have Portuguese allies)
Indonesian or Malaccan (must be an option that has Elephants),(may have Dutch, Javanese or Portuguese Allies)
Hindu Indian (May have Dutch allies)
Muslim Indian
2)
a)French War of Religion 1562-1598
French Wars of Religion Catholic
French Wars of Religion Huguenot
Elizabethan English (not Ireland)
Early Imperial Spanish (Not Italy)
Early Thirty Years War Dutch
b) 16th Century Wars in the British Isles 1500-1603
Early Henrician English
Scottish (French allies allowed?, Don't know on this one any ideas etc)
Border Reivers
Irish
Anglo Irish
Later Henrician English
Elizabethan English
c) Peasant Revolts and their Overlords. An army must have as many poor bases as it has sup/elite bases. (mob and LF count)
Peasant Wars
German States 1524-1526
Maxamilian Imperial 1514-1516
Hungarian 1514
Vasa Swedish 1542-1543 (Any bases may be downgraded to Poor to obey the poor/sup rule)
Early Danish 1534-1536
3)1670-1683 Build up to Vienna (6 bases of foot for every Artillery base)
Later Ottoman Turks
Crimean Tartar
Wallachian, Moldavian and Transylvanian
Hungarian Kurac Rebellion
Habsburg Austrian Imperial (Eastern army only) May use Siege of Vienna option if you can work out a list.
Later Polish and Lithuanian (Tartar allies only)

				- I prefer the Elephant one to the Americas one - far more likely people have lists.
- yep, a good solid do-able period
- does this duplicate the Oxford singles which is quite close to these dates?
- I've never been able to make Peasant Wars armies work at all, so this might be a period with the other lists in it. Not to say its bad, just Id be surprised if the peasants turned up.
- The Ottoman one looks good, although (oddly enough) I might be tempted to waive the 6-foot-per-gun restriction just for the Ottoman army in that list

I would vote out option 2b: too restrictive... Plus who wants to play with those armies

Unless you expand to include France/Spain/holland etc... Or another take on it (ish) armies around the period of the Spanish Armada? But keeping the focus on GB...

The Oxford singles is ECW so just after these dates.
Also the reason for the SUP/Poor restriction is to give the peasants a chance, as most of the armies they met were not the best ones.

1B: Elephants provide an interesting challenge
2C: I want to play as a Peasant!
3: Sounds suitable for mounted junkies

I would prefer 1b, 2b and, honestly, just because it's the only armies I own, something later than 3! Maybe James 2 and all who hate him or something of that ilk?
Sri Lankan Elephants sounds fun!

I like that - add "Tangiers Garrison" option for the Restoration British.

Yes specifically includes Tangies Garrison and Scotland for the Restoration British. That is why the North African States and Covenenter Rebels are there.

Ah, fair enough. Only mentioned it as its life-span extends beyond the 1685 limit.
