Have only had chance to play this evening. Completed the four tutorials (fourth one took me a few attempts!) and have thoroughly enjoyed my first ECW "Skirmish".

Are the three campaigns intended to be played in any order, or is there an inherent difficulty progression through the three historical periods?

Not really, the battles are mostly in chronological order, and their difficulty is based on the historical situation. They do start with smaller numbers of units in the first scenario, hence the Edgehill scenario was taken out of chronological order, and the Stratton ECW scenario was designed to be fairly easy.

I'm mildly obsessed by the ECW, but I'm going to leave that 'til later I think and tackle one of the other periods first.
