Well it is December 23rd and I have been asking Santa if the new Field of Glory is anywhere near completion. He has not said a word about it. Are there any of his Elves who have been working on this project and in the know have any news for us good little boys?
All the best guys and Happy Christmas to you all!!!!!!

I too am really looking forward to the new FOG, particularly the new expansions. I really think any update or expansion will breathe new life into the community with both new and old players.

I am a little surprised by the time it has taken to produce the new FOG in a business sense, given the potential sale of expansions. FOG has the most expansions of any Slitherine game, and expansions are by far easier and cheaper to produce than base games.

i'm happy with this version. it's stable and it's flexible. the new program is written by a single guy, not named john tiller or gary grigsby or norm koger, and will be buggy for a long time whenever it comes out, the length of development is already a sign... i'm sticking with this one. new set of unit graphics would be nice though.

There is also this from Iain at Slitherine more recently . . .

Hi guys,

development has taken much more time than we expected. In January we're going to make a decision on how best to proceed so we'll have news for you then. Thanks for you patience!

Yes, I agree, Jonathan. There is plenty of life left in this game. A new version, with some new army packs and we will see many more players joining in our competitions next year. And if a campaign editor was to materialise? :D

Please do not take me wrong, I like this game I have been looking for a game like this forever and have not long come across it. As far as the graphics are concerned I would love to alter them and have started doing some but I cant for the life of me get info on how to insert them in the game.

So any help is welcome.

I think you need to wait just a little while longer as the release of the new version is imminent. Then I suggest you talk to Dan (cothyso) of Neurosoft.

Is there any reason they could not have released new army packs to keep interest going

The FoG(U) will be released on Windows, OSX, iOS and Android. Currently there's (still) an open beta going on, with the latest version being the v2.0.01.978 GC1e (first gold candidate fifth update), and we're working on to fix any bugs still present in the game.

At this moment, the game is complete, including the AI. The only things not working yet are the MP DAG (which is having a gameflow fix in development) and the Editor (which is also having a gameflow fix in development). All the other (found) bugs were fixed.

A firm release date will be announced as soon as the remaining (critical) bugs are fixed. In the mean time, you can already play with FoG(U) Windows version, which is freely accessible to anyone having the old FoG(RB) game (serial actually).

Love the graphics on those knights!

One of the major problems was the graphics. When the original team left there was a big discussion on how to do them. Something about the ability to create them being difficult.

I would love to see Wolves from the Sea come out ... want to fight with some of my ancestors (family is from Sweden). :D

I have a brother who all he needs is a shield, sword and Viking helmet and a longship to jump out of ... he has the look in his eyes too.

Have not been able to do any FoG gaming in awhile and the pc I have right now is graphics slow so that means I must wait a bit longer.

Whatever they do I hope that the new game improves a lot on the current one. And from what I have been reading it sounds like they are heading in the right direction.

Well, old banshee has figured it out. there is now a way to add new painted figures to the game. now if someone has a painted east asian or renaissance army and the computer skills...

The images can be added to the old version of FoG. As that has a working Editor. When the new version of the game comes out Editor working please god, the images can be converted to work in that.
Anyone got some photos of their figures I can use, let me know. Crusaders and Islamic would be nice.
