forget ww2 when can we expect the Ancients game based on this engine?
There is NOTHING out there for us ancients players (Hegemony is a weak RTS and HPS Sims Ancients games are lacking in interface and play ability)

We have been discussing DLC, expansions and sequels with Slitherine recently but no final decisions have been made yet (and if they were we would've be sharing them yet

)
But I can add that doing an ancient themed game (romans, greeks, carthaginians, ...) is something I would personally love to do at some point. Admittedly, the same goes for a number of other themes!

But I hate the turn resolution and its really clunky. I just saw that on the homepage they mentioned Ancients and was trying to get subliminal on them

Something other than WW2 for a change would really be great, but people should start to shanghai customers for it
However, Happy Holiday everyone

As far as an ancient game is concerned I personally can`t imagine it on such an engine. In these hexagons based games you can move the units individually in every direction. That`s not what happened in ancient combat. Very few armies had been able to move small units independently during a battle without causing confusion and the army collapsing. It took a very professional and experienced army to do that. There are notable examples, of course, but more often than not armies would just form a line with some cavalry and skirmishers used for maneuver. Some large and unskilled hosts could only manage to form a mass of infantrymen whose purpose was to hold firm and maybe push. In such cases, there was no way to command small units to maneuver in the way in which you can in PG style games. If a breech appeared in the line, the battle was most likely lost. Some unit types, like macedonian phalanx would be dead if attacked from behind. There was no way they would just flip back like they do in PG/PzC. I just don`t see how this would be reflected in games of this type, but I do wish you`ll be able to implement it.
Merry Christmas to everyone!

For those of you who play PzC I have begun work on an Ancient Rome-based mod.

I don't expect that it will be ready before September, but there will certainly be a game like what you want next year
